devinebass
Hi guys, just been doing some rehearsals with platinum selling Polish artist Tatiana Okupnik for a BBC showcase over here in the UK. I recorded the rehearsals... and a lot of messing around to make a video diary type thing and thought you guys might wanna check it out. Here's the link to the video diary... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uaoyPNfcW0 There's also some decent footage of the showcase here, the sound quality is a bit rubbish but you get the idea... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtcopVco1GY...feature=related We also did a little warm up gig in Leeds. One of the tunes we were messing around with was 'Lets Dance' by David Bowie. We ended up putting a crazy latin bit in the middle of it just to break it up a little (3.40mins)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVU9WYzhmFo...feature=related Here's Tatiana doing a wicked version of big spender... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jegRmYG__7k Easy, Scott. Son of the Wear
Thanks Scott - really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. Shame you didn't get more rehearsal footage (the bits you did get sounded great) but I suppose you were meant to be playing rather than videoing! 'Lets dance' cover was spot on - never heard of Tatiana before but will check her website out. Neil

Rehearsals ended up being so intense that there just wasn't anytime to get anything recorded. Thanks for checking it out! Scott. Roland Rock
Nice one Scott - I loved the video diary, and the latin bit in Let's Dance is great. Not been to The Wardrobe for years - great place. Edited April 5, 2011 by Roland Rock

ShergoldSnickers
Nice to see some utter daftness intermingled with some serious hard work. Excellent. Gives me a further insight beyond the demo you did at the Bass Bash in Harrogate.

A lot of the time things can get quite stressful due to various factors so I've just got keep relaxed and make sure I'm doing a great job and having a great time. Easy, Scott. 2wheeler
Thanks of posting that Scott. I enjoyed the video diary. And the Harrogate Bass Bash workshop. Possibly cheeky question about trade secrets: why do you flatten the sixth in the Let's Dance bass line?

Nice to see it happening, I'm sure it's a great experience for ya... Cheers Laimis
MD'ing... Stressful lol! Before i was involved in MD'ing I always thought that it'd all be about the music/arranging etc... it's about SOOOO much more! Negotiating fee's/contracts/studio booking and negotiation/arranging rehearsals (trying to get 7 people in a rehearsal room for 4 days straight is tough when your using the best guys around... coz they're all really busy). I also did all the programming/sequences for this gig which i had to do in an insane amount of time... two weeks worth of work in 3 days basically = NO SLEEP lol! But... don't get me wrong, I absolutely, totally I love it!!! And.. feel so lucky to be involved in music and be able to make a living out of it. I wouldn't change it for the world. 2wheeler... Do you mean the sixth on the Am? Easy, Scott. (I could be wrong but I think) the original line there descends the Dorian (i.e. major 6th), while you had the minor 6th from the Aeolian scale. Listening to the original again, I couldn't swear that they don't mix them up. I really liked your version. I thought the minor 6th was darker and somehow suited the whole thing better (maybe because of Tatiana's voice, maybe just something to do with the whole band sound). But I'm pretty suyre it's not the same as the original.
