Pete Academy
So, do we get a Basschat history?
ped
I totally forgot about the FBI thing! Crazy times. I remember first starting Bassworld where I would check for new posts on my WAP mobile. Really happy with where we are now, and long may it continue ped
mike257
Wow, that's my first exposure to the two-tone blue - we've come a long way! I got on board when it was still 'Basstalk' if I remember right. Hasn't half grown since then!
MacDaddy
i was put on to Bassworld by Mike at Iceni. Seems a long time ago now. I remember the first Bash I attended was the second one. Sadly some great people have fallen by the wayside since then...
gafbass02
I'm still building up to a bash! I've always been far to scared/shy/embarrassed by all the great players to show my face. That and too skint to get to one, now I can drive might help but now I've discovered petrol prices!
Dood
I was a very early BassWorder on V 1.0. I seem to remember there being very few members on board and I think I knew the first names of pretty much all of the 'main posters'! I also have one or two of those to thank/blame for my Shukers! I have a Bassworld T shirt and a bassworld sticker on my flightcase. Can I put them on Ebay with 'RARE!!!' and a ridiculous number of eclamation marks in the description? ped
I remember when Bassworld was even more basic, literally a text based thing before there was any 'design' applied. I remember distinctly logging on and talking with the then 'man in charge' via AIM in my sixth form common room! We jumped ship (from Bassworld to Basstalk) at exactly the right time, because Bassworld finally ground to a halt a few days later due to not being updated at all for over a year. I'm not going to give out too many details but the 'man in charge' basically didn't have time or money to keep it going. I wasn't even able to contact him to convince him to let me carry it on, and so when we did, ourselves, by taking the database of members to Basstalk, he surfaced again and was rather angry. I think by that point the members had got used to the temporary nature of Basstalk and we were able to tell everyone who clambered aboard from all four corners of the interwebz that they would be moved on again, to a permanent home. Luckily this time we have a great team of staff who have kept the forum in tip top condition, doing all kinds of technical stuff behind the scenes whilst I do my best to throw obstacles in the way. Still, we don't leave bags or bass gear in the gangway just in case we have to jump ship again; as mentioned before, one or two people were lost in the transition(s) - although a large group of them were for some disagreement or other about how BC is akin to some messed up government regime. We plunder on... ped
pantherairsoft
I was a late starter... I didn't discover this until it was already well established as Basschat. Interesting seeing the origins though! Very happy to be onboard now though
