Doddy Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I'm sure someone will be interested in this http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...?partno=0301080 Quote
AttitudeCastle Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I was gonna post a thread on this yesterday, I like the specs, and price is about £360 at Guitarguitar. Quote
son of frog Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) this seems too much for this totally... You could find a genuine fender on Ebay or on here for a lot less and would be a lot nicer, I was interested in this bass until i saw the price, And the specs aren't even very good, Basswood Body (Like a standard Squier) Standard Squier P Bass Pickup And one of those Squier Cheapo bridges that seem to be popping up on every new bass, although it might be approved by Matt Freeman, because he's being paid, and endorsed, the bass doesn't seem to be good value for money. Even £300 would be too much, unless it had an extra special pickup and bridge Like Quarter pounder and a Badass. my two pennies. EDIT: i do love that vintage white / maple combination though.. hehe Edited April 7, 2011 by son of frog Quote
Doddy Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 I didn't realise it was that price. You'd be better off with a Classic Vibe or a Vintage Modified. Quote

I personally quite like it And i don't trust the Vintage Modified P-basses, i got 2 (2007 model) First one, truss rod was completely twisted. So sent it back, got a replacement which was the same, but also had a trashed bridge! Sent that back and was done with re-fund! Though some Squires are grand i'll give 'em that! The new price of fenders is ridiculous IMHO A mex P-bass for £450 and up? (some places £500+) Matt Freeman P Now £370! But for less than that Matt Freeman signature, (which will be hit / miss judging by Squiers reputation) you can probably get on the sale section here and get a lovely Fender Precision in good nick, plus you know most of the time you're buying something decent from someone decent. and at about £300 - 350 Quote

The GAS inducing BC market place the best place for anything Fender Atm i think! Anyone else remember when Fender Mex Precisions were around £350 ?? Quote

I bought my MIA standard Jazz Bass in 98(?) for about £570 BRAND NEW!!! (Although that was quite cheap, I think RRP was about (£800). Edited April 8, 2011 by TRBboy Quote
danhkr Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Does seem a little pricey, but appears to be basically a classic vibe which means it should be excellent. I've played loads of the CV guitars and basses and I've not really played anything that Fender make below the MIM classic series that is any better. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Rancid are my guilty pleasure & I like the look of this. I have no comment on the cost as all modern Fender basses seem over priced these days Quote
son of frog Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011

haha Fair play, But, think about the Quality of Basswood they're using, probably not near as good as Musicman. And those bridges areeee CHEAPO! cheapo cheapo cheapo Quote
bassix Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I feel very disappointed with the price/quality ratio of this. I didn't expect anything but basswood but stock pickups and bridge at that price? I've always been a big fan of Matt's but I won't be purchasing this. I'm sure this has nothing to do with meeting him last month where he was a complete tool. Quote

jim_bass Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 So can anyone confirm that this is just a classic vibe p with a different paint job like the james johnston jazz which cost a load more that the CV jazz because it was blue. Quote
AttitudeCastle Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Why does no one like basswood but me? Haha! Doesn't the James Johnston Jazz (JJJ from now on ) Have different pickups? Plus i think that Blue is worth the extra haha! Though i'm not fender (well, fender styled. Minus some P-s ) man, or a Jazz bass man Quote
MythSte Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Have any of you whining about the bridge actually seen it?! It's thicker than the BBoT and has brass saddles. Quite nice if you ask me. Quote
absolutpepper Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I like and Matt's a great bass player so respect but i'd rather have a Baby Pino Quote
Yep. same bridge, pup, neck size, vintage frets, etc. I know this is a Squier but i cant see what the fuss is about its price. Its not for everyone, and yes, its basswood but if that was such a bad thing why are there so many happy CV owners out there? It should of course have B. Foxton on the headstock ;-) Quote

waynepunkdude Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Am I right in saying a CV usually has a RW but this has maple? Quote
Delberthot Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 So is he any relation to Alan 'Fluff' Freeman? If so then this bass is well worth the money alright? Not 'alf. Quote
willyf87 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 More expensive CV with a maple board that's all it is. I also think that the Standard Fender prices are far to high now, although i will say that the quality is much much better than it was ten years ago. Quote
