KevG Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Just seen the video of 'Who are you' on Virgin media for the first time, what is John Entwhistle playing? It seems to have a Fender neck (Precision, all maple?) and a Gibson Explorer body with gold p/u covers. Love to know, just in case I ever get asked to be in a bass related pub quiz!! Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 That would have been John's 'Fender-bird' hybrid bass Quote
icastle Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 If you want the full story behind the FenderBird then check it out here. Quote

The one in the Who Are You vid is generally known as an Explorerbird. It still has the Fender Precision neck, and Gibson guts, so it's basically the same bass only with a different body shape. Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Ah, I see! So it would be the one on page 32 of John's 'Bass Culture' book? Quote
