Roscoe Porn thread

Hey folks,

I felt sure we had one of these, but it seems not (if we do and someone finds it. Let me know and I'll merge them!). I know there is quite a bit of love or Roscoe basses on Basschat so let's compile them here (even of you've shown them else where). By far my fav' luthier.

Mine -
Century Standard 6 Fretless
Ash body, Maple neck, Diamond Wood board lined with aluminium.
CB Bart pups and pre
Hipshot hardware (and I've replaced the knobs with hipshot O-Rings)

Who's next?

Ooh! I'm in!

Lovely CS, killer grain on that ash!

I have these two, an LG 3005, and a fretless SKB 3005.

The fretted is flame maple over ash, bubinga fretboard, and the standard maple/purpleheart neck, with Roscoe spec. Bart pickups, and a Bart preamp.

The flame maple top is really thick though, half the body in fact.

The fretless is box elder burl over spanish cedar, with maple and mahogany layers, lined diamondwood fingerboard, and the standard maple/purpleheart neck, also Roscoe spec Bart pickups, and Bart preamp.

The fretless though, came stock with an Aguilar pre, but was returned to Roscoe for them to install the Bart preamp before I owned it.

At last, a Roscoe thread!

I was looking for a bass to replace my Tobias Classic 5, which had been gigged constantly for 15 years, I'd heard of Roscoe, so I did a bit of reaearch and ended up buying one from Bass Direct (I was their first Roscoe customer).

This pic was taken on the day I picked my bass up in Mark's home.

These basses are purely hand-built in a small factory, without the price tag of a Fodera.

Don't look too happy about it will ya' :)

Nice... I have serious GAS for another. My Bassline EUB has to go and I'm going to have to consider my bass position carefully. Thinking of going 'all Roscoe'.
Lovely! Not a 'massive' fan of the LG shape... It's a little odd, but yours is possibly the nicest I've seen. The SKB is killer! Love the Diamond boards too... Amazing.
I dig it, but it is a pretty weird shape, that's for sure! Makes more sense when it's sitting in your lap, very comfy IMHO. Cheers!

Indeed - when seeing it out of context on a stand, it may seems a little off. Once strapped on, it looks great... and feels great to the player too.

Here are my two:

The Orange Century Standard has Roscoe Barts with a swamp ash body and a maple neck/fretboard.

The Flame Koa Century standard + has a swamp ash body, Flame/Burr Koa top, 3 piece maple neck, birdseye maple fingerboard and Bart J's in 60's position.

Both are monsters of tone! I love these basses and they weigh next to nothing with great feel, tone and playability. Also, the trim pot on the control plate comes in really handy.

Since their standard is 35" it's more WORK - and you know how labour is the most expensive resource in a bass, right? Apart from Foderas, for which the NYC premises contribute in a huge way towards the costs.
Wahey! Roscoe have finally updated their website after 3 years.
It's been like that in terms of layout for a few months now. I'm told another content update is to happen shortly as well
Some beautiful basses there. I had a 5 string SKB a couple of years ago, it was a very cool bass.

I'm maybe thinking of trading my Overwater for an SKB 6 string. Can anyone tell me how wide the necks are on the 6 string models ?
Necks are wide. About as wide as they come, but also VERY slim in my experience. I'm yet to find a 6 string neck slimmer than a Roscoe.
There must surely be more Roscoes hiding amongst the Basschat family?
Here's mine, got it in a trade with Ville (nobody's prefect) a year and a half ago and am forever grateful to him for that.
It's a true joy to play this bass!! :)
