No it isn't! :)

Read the small print, even if you take out extra insurance (and they will take your premium) it isn't insured!

I am afraid Warwickhunt is correct: last time I checked, Parcelforce do NOT insure musical instruments beyond £150. So even if you pay for extra insurance, that's your max protection anyway. I know in this case they shouldn't accept your extra insurance money, but they do..... tut-tut

I also use Interparcel, normally with UPS.

Some details here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625

Apothem - I've used Interparcel in the past with no problems BUT I do seem to recall that 'their' T&C preclude musical instruments through UPS may not and your contract is with Interparcel. Worth checking as I may be wrong.

Everyone should probably look at the Interparcel Prohibited & Restricted Items Page which amongst other lists:
Magnets or items containing ferro-magnetic material
That technically rules out all amps, speakers and instruments with magnetic pickups. Any creative insurer could use that as an excuse not to pay out if something went wrong with your parcel...

Interparcel, or Parcel2go are both worth looking at.

I`ve used Parcel2go to ship a few items. Won`t use the Parcelforce option again tho, 11 days for a Euro 48 item. The DHL option was very good, and would recommend it.

Bit concerned about the Interparcel exclusions, so will prob stick to Parcel2go.

Parcel 2 Go aren't much better.

check out their Special Provisions
Guitars - maximum parcel compensation value for damages is £100, up to £1000 compensation for lost items. Guitars must be sent in a hard case.
Seems no-one actually wants the business, doesn`t it?

Now in a quandry, see if someone refuses cos of the magnet thing, or take a chance on no damage above £100?

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh
