Dood Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I have much respect for Jean Baudin, but thank f*** this wasnt yet another post of his Mario video, which is rather long in the tooth these days. Quote
acidbass Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I'm much more impressed by the drumming in this video than the bass playing, the guy seems to have a nice sense of groove, even though he is a little busy with the snare at times! Quote
metalmaniac Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 The drumming is pretty good. @ Dood, lol don't worry, I couldn't do that to Jean You gotta give credit they are well rehearsed. Way too much time on their hands Quote
Alun Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Am I only bassist on the planet not to know the the Mario music???? Quote

No time now!! Quote
Dood Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I was shown these vids of a fantastic drummer playing along to those good ole Mario tunes. If you enjoy watching some great drum chops, I think you'll like these. Right up my street! Slapping, tapping, really fast playing etc. etc. don't necessarily equate to groove... Edited February 10, 2008 by David Nimrod Quote
bassicinstinct Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Yep, technique and groove are sadly mutually exclusive in alot of bass related YouTube clips - and elsewhere IMHO. Quote
Sibob Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Didn't like the first piece, Dood's video of the drummer were great fun though. Was loving the Mario 2 vid, bit more tech lol Si Quote
dabootsy Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 is there a point no feel i think i may be from the old school but i would rather hear one note played with feel than 20 without but each to his own Quote
Grand Puba Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cf50q4xpts...feature=related
Sorry MetalManiac. This is so wrong. For real drum/bass combo skills, I present for your enjoyment, Exhibit A Quote
metalmaniac Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 (edited) Its alright. But mario music is fun. I like it. probably because I spent many an hour as small person learning to eat mushrooms to become big and strong. Anyone else love retro console music. Ocarina of time is brilliant, And Yoshis isalnd!! Pure genius. In fact Mr Baudin stated he would love to compose a videogame soundtrack. Edited February 12, 2008 by metalmaniac Quote
