paul h Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b5XYgzGQB4 I just stumbled across this in a daze brought on by industrial strength floor varnish. Why is yet another version of a MM tune noteworthy? Because it's played on a Korean made Dexter bass which sounds pretty damn good. www.dexterguitars.com are responsible but my Korean is a bit rusty and I am fairly sure it would be a bit of a "importus horribleus" if possible at all. Now I don't know if it's the most expensive bass available in Korea or whether it would fall into Basassins favourite category. If it does qualify as a cheap copy...then I want one. They even do a "Funky 75" range! Paul. Quote
Brother Jones Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I found that a few months ago and thought it was one of the best Marcus covers I've seen on YT. Always assumed though, that it was a US Jazz. Just goes to show - it's the player, not the bass... Quote
Rumble Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Blimey, he's a bit isn't he! Totally agree with ^^^ about the fingers! Quote
Happy Jack Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 That's a fascinating bit of film. Not really into slap bass or MM (heresy!) but that's a very nice piece he's playing. What intrigues me is that amount and type of comment he's received, especially the open discussion as to whether or not he's faking the whole thing. Why? Why would an obscure Korean musician put up a video of himself miming to a 5-minute MM track? Does that sort of thing happen often? Quote
