chipmunk_jr
I am currently rebuilding my Yamaha RBX 270 and I don't really know enough about pickups to buy new ones. The current ones on my bass are dieing and needing to be replaced. Any suggestions on what I should buy? Thx
Doctor J
Pickups have probably the biggest influence on the sound of your bass and vary greatly from manuacturer to manufacturer and model to model, what kind of sound are you looking for? chipmunk_jr
Im going for a metallica sort of sound.
chrismuzz
A lot of metal players use EMG's, or you could go with EMG PJHZ passive pickups if you don't want to mess around with active pickups/batteries and whatnot. Seymour Duncan pickups are mighty tasty too! More expensive options are available, but I'd definately start there.
Doctor J
Yeah, I'd second the EMG recommendation for that. Black album and the two Loads were mostly EMG and Trujillo uses them in a lot of his basses.
Doctor J
Now that I think of it, wasn't the bass on AJFA an EMG equipped Steinberger, not that you'd hear it, of course
chrismuzz
Not unless you look for the remasters on YouTube! Who'd have thought Guitar Hero would have something good come out of it?
Fitz666
There is an album avaiable on one of the torrent sites called "And Justice for Jason". The whole album sounds sooooo much better

chrismuzz
That's disappointing I was just about to go download it so I can take the REAL cd album out of my car. I can't bare to listen to it through good speakers, you can't pretend it's their fault the bass is inaudible
Doctor J
Can someone get me the bass tracks out of yon computer game, I can lash it into protools and do up a mix?
chrismuzz
I've actually got a copy of Guitar Hero: Metallica, for my xbox 360. I'll try to find out how to rip the tracks from it and send em your way to have a play with!
Doctor J
And I'll send you a shiny bass filled mix in return
