bigjay1404 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Hello to everyone on the Basschat website. I thought it's about time I joined as I always seemed to end up on here for advice! I'm 42 and have been mucking about with basses since I was 13 and was inspired by to play John Taylor from Duran Duran (Oh the shame!) then I discovered John Entwistle, Paul Mcartney, Andy Rourke, Peter Hook, Bruce Thomas, Mani and J.J. Burnel to name but a very few. I started with an Ibanez Blazer Bass, then 2 Aria pro ll basses (John Taylor again!) Musicman Stingray, Fender Precision (white with black scratchplate just like Sid's) and a white Fender Jazz copy. As usual, finances dictate selling when times are hard so I'm currently using a Stingray copy in black with maple neck with naughty pre Ernie Ball Musicman headstock decal. As for bands, I was in a local punk band called The Pits til the singer went mental (if only he'd had Syd Barrett's talent). I'm now in a local band called the Attic Rats, and if the singer tells me to turn down or play less once more I think I'll batter him! Recently I've been scouring the web looking for a decent Ric copy and bassassin's and karlfer's threads have given me some great info. The forums always seem helpful and friendly and I'm glad to be here. Quote
