richardcoughlan
THIS BASS IS NOW SOLD, thanks Hi guys I am selling my Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless 4 string Bought this bass in around 2007. It has been fitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups (paid around 180 quid for the pair) I gigged with this bass usually a couple of times a week for the best part of 4 years, consequently it isn't the best cosmetic condition. I stress however the bass plays, and sounds (most importantly) great still - see the sound clips below. To outline the cosmetic faults, here are a series of pictures: Wonky tuning peg on E string (still works as if it were new) Bottom strap button kept falling out (as happens on all Fenders, eventually I just drilled a new hole and fitted the button properly, this new button is going nowhere!) Major belt rash, scratches and 2 areas of chipped paint (who's going to be looking at the back of your bass?) Slight damage to rear of neck, but I barely notice it, actually works worse in picture than real life Missing ferrule....(I use a washer between the string and wood, does the job just as well So this is an authentic road worn bass! As I've said not in the prettiest of conditions (although the front still looks great). But it plays great, and makes the right sounds. SOUNDCLIPS Here are a couple of (very) rough soundclips I just bodged together They were recorded DIRECT into logic (NO EQ, PRESETS, COMPRESSION etc - just bass>mac) Guessing if you're playing fretless you want to be able to do 2 different things: Funky jaco (bridge pickup) sound: fretless clip 1 Quasi-upright walking sound: fretless clip 2 ...and if you really want to.. fretless clip 3 (yer that clip does have chorus and a bit of reverb on, the others are completely dry though) These basses are around £1200 new, has £180 worth of upgraded pickups.. but I understand its not in the best cosmetic condition, consequently I'd like £545 for it. I'll throw in a molded fender hard case too for FREE! The bass is in Rochester, Kent. However I'm in central london most nights so can arrange to have the bass in town if you want to check it out. Collection from Rochester/London or can arrange P&P at buyers expense Any questions please ask, Best Rich Coughlan Edited April 23, 2011 by richardcoughlan
