Clarky
Hi mate, I assume this is a bridge wing piezo? I googled these and the only clip I could find was a rockabilly slapper - is that what this is designed for? If not, could you tell me something about its characteristics (and why its feedback resistant) as I am thinking it would be useful to have a backup pickup to my ATPFlex Electret (actually right now it would be useful to have any pickup, since I am still waiting for Lando Music to send a replacement ATPFLex after my first one was faulty)? slobluesine
there's a whole thread here Clarky... http://www.doublebasschat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10561 yep it's a wing pup, very similar in size to a Bassmax but way way louder and feedback resistant, very similar sound to a Schatten RB1 IMO

It's the only piezo/bridge pup that has stopped me using the schaller, and I love my schallers. I've kept the schaller on my main bass, but it just doesn't get used now. Clarky
In the TB thread, people talk about affixing the TM piezo into the D/G wing rather than, as I would have assumed, the E/A wing ... is this your experience John/sloebluesine and oldslapper/John? Before I read the thread I tried it on E/A side and it was too boomy, even with eq adjustments. So put it on D/G wing and it was nice and even, and loads of volume. Got a band rehearsal on Saturday so will give this a try out then (I assume my replacement ATPFlex won't have arrived by then as Lando were waiting for stock, grrrr)
oldslapper
How'd you get on with this Clarky? I've just recorded with it and the engineer loved it. He was resistant at first, preferring 2 mics, but he ended up mixing both. John

John
Tried it this morning against my newly arrived ATPFlex - the latter is now FS on the forum which tells you! Great volume and authentic DB sound. I did find the sound varied quite a lot depending on how exactly you place the piezo part within the wing - if its hanging loose (ie, vertical) its a bit too boomy but if you put it in horizontally and wedge the rubber casing 'tail' against the end of the wing it obviously reduces some of the vibration and cuts out the boominess for a really nice sound Edited April 29, 2011 by Clarky
