I've tried working out this rift from a song which is very repetitive but very groovy and catchy but I must be tone deaf i am struggling big time :) , I cant seem to get the knack of it but it is my first attempt. I was wondering if anyone could help me out and work it out for me thanks :)

The song starts about 1min15sec

yeah, it goes "bum da bum bum, badadada bum".

Edit,

Something like that. It's late and i'm tired.

I've removed that tab after the notes appeared once, just to encourage reading music n all :)

... I'm just about to hit the hay, but before I do it's something along the lines of:

F / G# / A#

If you want tabs, it'd be something like:

E string fret 1 (E1) for the first few notes;

Then E3-E4/D6 (i.e. playing up from F to G and then G# on the E string, and the octave above (G#) on the D string)

Then E6/D8 - E6/D6-D7-D8

...which probably makes no sense at all, but you might be able to piece it together from that!

Good luck - it's a nice little bassline; quite simple to play once you have the groove of it ;-)

I was going to go to bed but you made me learn this instead

I've just tried (badly) to tab it in Guitar Pro, but the notes are something like this:

G--------------------------------------------------------------
D ---------------------------------6----66------7----8------6-7-8
A--------------------------------------------------------------
E---1--1--1----1-1-1---234---4----------5----6----6---------

PS My music theory is non existent - I believe that trying to do stuff like this helps me become a better bassist

Can the real bassists please correct / amend where necessary

Cool bassline and I love the bass tone, yum!

made me go and plug in my bass and I've been playing this for a while. I just wish that bassline were uses in a better song :)

It is a nice little line, prominent repetitive lines like that will help you get the hang of working things out by ear

Doddy or Bilbo will be along to slay you all for the use of tab though
