john_the_bass
check what it would cost you to import a new one from somebody like Ishibashi. A word on the seller - I bought my tele custom from him (John) and found him to be very helpful and generally a top bloke to talk to. I look through his stuff now and again to see if he's got anything I would be interested in as his used prices seem to be pretty good - you could also loook at his other stuff - www.mcguitars.co.uk
Tee
As far as i know, one can't buy 'new' Fender Japan instruments from Ishibashi anymore.

Rumble
I've just had a look at Ishibashi and it would appear the only new ones available for overseas export are the US versions. So with this in mind is it worth jumping on this one whilst it's available?
Tee
Well, it's the vintage 'premium' version, ie alder and US pickups, not the cheaper basswood and Japanese pickups version. So you have to ask yourself, do i like it and can i afford it?
The simple answer is yes and yes.......however, going with a p-bass is something of an unknown for me (currently have a jazz bass) so don't want to spend £400 buying from a shop to find it's only worth £350 on the used market. Tee
Well, it would be cheaper via a private seller perhaps. But have a look here. A very similar bass for £50 more (Jap 93/94 pbass) If you've never played a P before, i would suggest trying one out first though. Mind you, if you do buy it and don't like it, there will be plenty of people here who would then buy it, i imagine. Ta
I think that's a fair price. If you're after a good value Precision you won't beat the CIJ re-issues. I've got one of the 70s re-issues and love it to bits. Hamster
I think the price is ok too. Drop him an e-mail and see if he'll take an offer? Hamster
