Zydian
In my search for some Gibson bass guitars I've stumbeled upon this website Gibson Bass Store, and they have some basses I'm quite interested in. The thing is that I've never heard of them and thus have no information about the fact if its a trustworthy website/seller. I've allready sent some e-mails to which they replied instantly, and the payment would be thourhg paypall, so I presume the risk isn't that big. Any information and experiences might come in handy. Thanks! Edited April 29, 2011 by Zydian
Shaggy
I stumbled across that one a couple of years ago, and recognised a few of the basses that were FS then! I'd love that black bicentennial T'bird though....... I've no experience of dealing with him but the guy obviously knows his his stuff and the photography is excellent; he shares my interest in the older models (bottom of page - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=76091&st=40 and top of next one). Prices are top dollar but that's what you'd expect from a specialist on-line store, see also Gruhn's which is the gold standard for Gibsons and totally kosher - http://www.gruhn.com/ Best advice is to swot up on sites like that and these; http://www.vintageguitars.org.uk/index.php http://www.flyguitars.com/ http://vintage-guitars.blogspot.com/2006/0...ss-guitars.html and then buy on US ebay - where I've got most of mine; you get hit with shipping, customs & VAT but they're way cheaper in the first place
Zydian
I've reserved the Gibson les paul Money bass, I've found one on ebay, but the problem with ordering in the USA, for belgium is that on arrival you have to pay 25% of taxes on the total value of the guitar. So in many cases, ordering in the usa, isn't that ideal for us.
Shaggy
Ah, thought you were after a vintage Gibbo. You'd find an LP Money on European ebay fairly easily I'd have thought (as you have), they don't go for that much Yeah, we get clobbered for 20% VAT from the US, it's not as cheap an option as it once was but for Gibsons and Ricks is often still cheapest.. evilLordJuju
Although I have never bought from this GibsonBassStore, Idris (the owner) advertises on my sites, and has done for a while now. I would vouch for him. He is a genuine dealer with (as far as I have seen from the photos) legitimate stock. He has bought one bass from me, and all dealings I have had with him have been positive. I would happily buy from him. BUT, as with all vintage guitar deals, you need to do a bit of homework - even the best dealers can make mistakes! I am always happy to advise on vintage Gibson basses if you want a second opinion - from Gibson bass store or anywhere else for that matter (not that I or anyone is infalible)
Zydian
Well I actually have a question about my Gibson Grabber, I think it's a wine red one (bought it some time ago but never really cared about what color it was), but I'm not quite shure. Below a picture of the bass
