sifi2112
Custom jazz bass hand made by the late Paul McNab (Paulman - Huddersfield) .. only contemplating selling as I now only want to play 5 string anyway, here's the spec ........ 1 piece Amazaque (ovangkol) body .. very heavy (+/- 6kg) 1 piece Wenge neck (absolutely gorgeous, best neck I've played .. pity its not 5 string) .. nice ebony fretboard too Gotoh reverse tuners (black) http://www.allparts....-3-p-2030.html# Nordstrand Big Singles http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Signature.html Hipshot A style brass bridge (black) http://store.hipshot...ct_detail&p=114 Schaller strap locks 5-way rotary selector switch ... by Stan Hinesley (bridge / br+n series / br+n parallel / br+n series out-of-phase / neck) http://www.facebook.com/Stan.Hinesley.Pickups No volume or tone controls but the cavity is large enough to add more. Switch shaft was slightly loose so have put two screws in to secure it but over did it slightly & went right thru but only the point of the screw & hardly noticable, switch works fine tho now lol. Maybe you'd want to put typical jazz controls in or perhaps a preamp but this bass sounds just fab as it is imho. Very full sounding 'aggressive' jazz bass maybe due to +/- 13lbs of mass .. so certainly no light weight but the amazaque/wenge/ebony combined with Nordstrand BS's might also account for that ! Made my other jazz basses feel like toys .. I used to call this my 'jazz bass on steroids' lol .. such a great tone / sustain .. I even put the same pups in my Dingwall but just doesn't sound quite as good. Such a pity it's not a 5 string but I don't play 4 anymore & don't see myself going back (not even in a band anymore & need to sell off all my surplus gear) No trades please... unless 27" iMac (2011 type older model fine) Any questions/more pics or trial just contact me (07508211932) .. I would prefer collection in person so you can try out before you buy .. could possibly deliver for petrol money ... cheers Simon Edited May 26, 2013 by sifi2112

sifi2112
back up for sale ... sad to see this go but can't be too sentimental ... this beauty needs using (and not as an ornament)
timo
Nice to see another Paulman, I've got a 5 string and it's an absolute beast!
spuggy9
How does it balance on a strap and when played while seated? Would you consider intl. shipment? Thx.
sifi2112
Though heavy it balances just fine .. never had an issue of neck dive etc (do recommend a broad padded strap) ... not keen on shipping this really, for starters I only have a gig bag so not much protection. I could buy a hard case just for this purpose .. buyer would have to arrange/pay for shipping. Would prefer the potential buyer to come try out first to make sure they like the bass .. althought it's really lovely & sounds great the weight might be an issue ... so not a total 'no' on intl.shipping but like I said it would have to possibly be arranged & certainly covered (shipping & insurance) by buyer .... deepbass5
what is the nut width and radius of the neck. Its a monster at 12 lbs
sifi2112
40mm at nut & 57mm at 12th fret ... not sure of radius but Paulman usually made 'traditonal' sizes so guessing it's sort of standard jazz spec (except for the weight). I used to wear a wide padded strap with this bass & don't recommend this if you're (don't take this the wrong way) a bit of a light weight ... but a monster tone tho ... funkyspuke
I had the good fortune to play this bass today. At first, when I saw it being handed to me, I was very sceptical ... however after only a few seconds of playing it my initial reaction was no justified, by a long way! This bass sounds and plays amazingly! the big singles add some real balls to the sound although heavier than I'm used to, this would make one cracking bass for recording ... very tempted myself, however due to losing my cab recently, I can only afford to replace this! Cracking chap as well!
