King Tut
Guys and Gals, I have the chance of buying one of these locally. Anyone had any experience with them. I'll probably be asked to make an offer so some guide on their value would be welcome. Cheers
Raggy
Had one once. Nice solid thumpy tone. I ran it with the marshal 2x15 cab and was always being told to turn down. Worst mistake I ever made was selling it.
Dood
I owned the 200W version. Used with a 2x15. One venue told me it was the best bass tone they'd ever had ;O) (P bass with phat pups on too)
alexclaber
Was that the one with the odd power supply - like Class G taken to extremes - so that although the rated power was 400W RMS it could deliver bursts of 4000W? Alex

Alex
Bloomin awesome! That was what! lol.. it was the 7xxx series. The head I think was the 7400. Black and gold front. Quite a heavy head, but much lighter than say that of an SVT! alexclaber
It's an excellent concept, makes total sense for bass players as we use only a fraction of our amp's power most of the time even when we playing at full volume. Here it is: http://www.marshallamps.com/heritage/dbs/dbs_03.asp So it seems that it really is Class G, with dual rail voltage, but only enough current capacity to provide continuous output when on the lower rail. Neat. Alex

Cheers
Marshall brought out a 200W and 400W IBS head in black, then later release an Anniversary set including 300W and 600W heads. They had chrome mirrored front panels and slightly different preamps. At the time I preferred the tone of the former 2 heads.
