markstuk
Hi, I'd like to use the effects send or DI on my RH450 to directly drive my QSC2402, but neither output appears to produce anough level to do this properly.. If I use the headphone output on the RH450 this works fine... I suspect I'm 10-15 db short on the effects/DI output... So a simple mono preamp or line driver appears to be in order, no tone controls, very clean, and preferably not too expensive.. Any suggestions? I have an ART MX225 that would probably do the job, but I'm really looking for something small and 9V powered that I can fit and forget... ahpook
wouldn't one of the little ART mp preamps do the job, or were you thinking rack-mounting ? Edited May 8, 2011 by ahpook
markstuk
Hi Thanks for the advice.. I was thinking small metal box with no valves - a simple solid state transparent preamp, single XLR or jack in/single XLR or jack out (preferably balanced) , and a gain knob :-) ... The ART's are meant for mic's mostly I think? Cheers Mark

markstuk
Apparently there is a mod to the PLX 2402 to increase sensitivity by changing 4 (sic) resistors.....

ikay
Just came across the MK.4.23 boost pedal (25db of ultra clean boost) while looking for something else. One of the configurations they mention is to boost input to a power amp stage. Should do the trick so thought I'd pass it on: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...4_23_Boost.html
markstuk
cheers... would be perfect if not quite so expensive :-)
ThomBassmonkey
Why not fit a DI box in the FX loop of the head (assuming it has one)? That's basically where the DI (assuming it's post-EQ, if it's pre put it in front of the head) goes on the head so it should give the same results. I've not heard bad things about the RH450's DI though, maybe get in touch with TC and see what they say, there could be a problem with the DI out. markstuk
HI, The RH450 DI works with everything else fine, and the FX loop has the same level pronlem with the QSC2402. So a DI box that amplifies by 15 db would do fine, but I'm not sure I see the difference between this and my original posting ..:-) Cheers Mark
Why not fit a DI box in the FX loop of the head (assuming it has one)? markstuk
My Exar IB-04 preamp/DI box/two instrument mixer pedal arrived this morning.. It's quiet and clean and gives me 20 db boost as well as a DI socket to relay to the PA.. Problem sorted... And it's got a headphone socket as well :-) Mark Edited May 14, 2011 by markstuk
