MXR distortion +

Anyone ever use one of these on bass? I bought a BYOC kit and am faced with the option of building a DOD250 clone or a distortion+. I know that the 250 sounds ok for what I want, but thought i might try the Dist+ for fun. Just wondered if anyone had any prior experience of that particular beast
