Is that a stock bass or is it modified? Cause I want one. Now. Pleeeeeease.
It's stock-a Rickenbacker 4003 Shadow. They only made 50 of 'em, and note the price, so I wouldn't hold your breath...

Pre-73 checkerbound Rick 4001s with full-width crushed pearl inlays, toaster etc. Same goes for the early 4001s's and RM1999s.

These are mine:

Alembic Triple Omega (this was mine, sadly no longer):

Alembic Balance K, Rogue, Standard and Small Standard shapes.

Sei Flamboyant and Original. Oh, and S/cut and Millenium!

Rim Marseer.

Fodera Matt Garrison.

W&T Zoid.

Some Carl Thompsons (and that Xylem bass!).

Jerzy Drozd Barcelona.

Most things in Sonic Blue.

Original Steinberger.

Jaydee Starchild.

Er.....and probably some others. I'm hungry and can't think straight anymore.

I know this is very conservative, but I just love my 79 P to death...! One thing though, mine has an A-neck and that makes all the difference when you grew up playing a Jazz bass :-)

Might be just me but Alembics do nothing for me. I'm sure they play better than any bass I could ever reasonably afford but every time I see one I just think 'bleurgh!'. Horses for courses I guess.

I realise that. In addition my fave Alembic is probably most people's least favourite. But if we all liked the same things it would be really boring wouldn't it? I like my basses, like my musicians, to have personality. :)

Oh and yes, it certainly did play amazingly. Probably better than anything else I've ever played, and that's saying a lot.

never tire of 4000s image of the Triple O - without doubt, the most staggering piece of walnut I've ever seen and a stunning bass (I had the pleasure of seeing it in the flesh). OT I know but I get hypnotised by wood like that

For pow22 and ovo, I've got a black one exactly the same as in the picture, and my old roses paint splashed one currently resides in the British music experience exhibition at the O2 arena.....along with MY paint splashed clothes from the famous roses photo shoot.

Definitely cool, in fact the only cool thing Rickenbacker ever made, everything else they did was the exact opposite of cool!! (Lights the touchpaper, and slowly walks away........)
