Treeb Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Many moons ago, when I played bass in my youth, I had an amp which (believe it or not) had a build in flanger effect (if anyone is interested, it was a 100W OHM head with a 7 band EQ and aforementioned flanger). At the time I became quite partial to a little bit of flange. 20-something years on, I'm now on the flange hunt once again. Can anyone recommend a decent flanger pedal? Thanks. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I highly recommend hunting round ebay for an Aria FL-10 or FL-5 personally I think it's one of the best flangers on the market. Cheers Quote
Alun Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Or the old DOD Stereo Bass Flanger (FX72 I think?) Much better and warmer to me than any of their current models. My first one died but I found another on Fleabay. Cheers, Alun Quote
1976fenderhead Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I like the Boss BF-2B Bass Flanger, and eBay is probably also your best bet to get it... Quote
steve Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I use a Marshall Regenerator RG1 - it has flange, phase and chorus kind of things going on, I can definately say they're worth a look Quote
Treeb Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 Many thanks for all of the suggestions. I've just (this lunchtime) been offered a Boss BF-3 for £30 by someone with more money than sense (he has a home studio full of expensive stuff he doesn't use!) so I'll be giving that one a go Hopefully it will compare well to the BF-2B. Alien Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I use a BF-3, and it's pretty good. I use the guitar input, rather than the bass, because I prefer the sound. The tap tempo function is pretty cool too. Andy Quote

Can't live with it, can't live without it.. Personally I prefer a shaved flange.... Quote
terryblyth Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I've recently been rooting around my old pedals, and my BF-2B has found it's way back into the chain! Quote
1976fenderhead Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Just got this topic back up to say that being so impressed with my MXR Chorus, I tried their Flanger as well and was absolutely blown away! My BF-2B sounds like a toy compared to it, same as my Boss Bass Chorus sounded like a toy compared to the MXR... I'm definitely getting one soon (and selling the BF-2B). I find it hard to believe that the Aria could be even better, but if so, wow! Quote
tayste_2000 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Well I'm selling my Aria FL5 at the moment I'm sure I posted clips of what these pedals can do Quote

I'm quite impressed as it delivers a nice 'round' tone which is just what I'm after. Quote
