Look at my lovely basses.....

I don't often stray on this side of the bass stave tracks, but I'm glad I did. A luverly bunch you've got there. The family of a drummer I used to know had a German 3 string that was worth a fortune - this was back in the early 80s - and hearing it sparked a latent interest that has been left unsatisfied since.

Either you've got a very big house or a very sympathetic partner :)

I'd love to take a close look at those sometime - I've not had much experience playing or repairing ply, except Chinese stuff and from what I've heard, the difference between Chinese and classic ply is like chalk and cheese.

I change my mind which is favourite on almost daily basis. Sometimes the Mortone looks stunning... doesn't really do justice this picture. But currently Framus and Kay are favourites.

Got sent this page from an old Framus catalogue by Michael off DBC ... certainly looks like my bass on the right, except cutaway version obviously. Nice.

phwoar! Swap you for two pickups :)

Here's my two which are nothing like as porn-tastic - a c.20 year old Andreas Zeller 3/4 ply back/sides, which my old sadly-deceased tutor Phil Bates (Tubby Hayes, Stefan Grapelli) thought sounded excellent, and an Eminence removable neck EUB:
