Jono Bolton Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm looking to buy a new Precision body and The STRATosphere on ebay have loads of replacement Fender parts. There's a few nice Jap Precision bodies, but there's nothing to say what the difference between the 57 and 62 P bass bodies is. Anyone know? There's a nice sunburst 57 and a lovely Lake Placid Blue 62. I fancy replacing the body of my black Mex P, but I like the Mex neck. Quote
Soulfinger Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 AFAIK, the difference is in the neck (maple vs. rosewood fretboard). The bodies are identical. In general, Japanese P bodies can be basswood or alder. Alder bodies are used on the basses that come with US pickups. If the body is loaded, look at the bridge: If the saddles are threaded, it´s US/alder, if the saddles are slotted, it´s the (cheaper) basswood version with Japanese pickups. Quote
Jono Bolton Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 I'm pretty sure the bodies are basswood, most of the auctions tell you in the description. Quote
