Pedro1020 Posted February 16, 2008 Share Posted February 16, 2008 The Few Years of playing bass I've used Elites, Rotosound, Warwick (Red label) & D'addario (Pro Steels)..they're ok, but I feel there might be (better) ones out there.. any suggestion to some good ones? nickel or steel, I'll take the gamble I need a change!! (I think I might be moving on to pickups there :wacko:) it's just the Elites I have on atm give a sort of dullish tone..it's hard to explain. The only downside is an approx 3 week wait............well they are being wound just for you! The Burpster Posted February 17, 2008 Share Posted February 17, 2008 I'm trying some GHS strings (I use mainly flatties, so cant recommned a set of r-wounds) they seem very good for what they cost certainly as good as D'adds. I'm sure that there are better strings out there, but I'm happy with the price, tone and feel of them that I haven't felt the need to look elseware. On my Rickenbacker 4003, I use a set of medium Elites Stadiums. What I find so bizarre, is that Elites felt horrid on my Fenders, but they feel right at home on the Ricky EDIT: I would use DR's but the price really puts me off. I tried a set of Sunbeams before and they were really nice, but I find it awfully difficult spend that much on them. They sound superb on both my Squier VMJ and Vigier alike. Cheap? Not really. (£25-30) Excellent tone and ease of fretting. Really good durability for a non-coated string. stevebasshead Posted February 21, 2008 Share Posted February 21, 2008 I switched from long term use of Elixirs to Dean Markley Blue Steels via Warwick EMP, DR FatBeams & Lo-Riders & D'Addario EXP's. The Blue Steels have a fantastic sound for my Ric's, last as well as anything above (other than Elixirs), don't rip my fingers and are nice and supple.
