If anyone has a gig booked at the Royal Oak in Blackpool - forget it. We turned up last night to be told "there's no gig tonight" because there's been a change of management and they no longer have live music on. Nobody bothered to ring and tell us and Blackpool's a round trip of 80 miles for our drummer. :)

Shame Al, another good venue bites the dust in the North West.
It's the old... landlord does a bunk and takes his diary with him problem.
Tantrum are a great young blues band though, could have been worse.

Yeh - I suppose you're right Ian, a bit of due dilligence wouldn't have gone amiss eh.

Yeh - gigs are going down like flies Cameron but we did find a great new one (for us) on Thursday night at Bootleggers in Kendal - great pub, own PA and lights, great crowd too - even on a Thursday.

The Royal Oak was THE place to play back in the dark days when I was a guitarist with The Hugh Jarre Soul Band.

Is that the one poulton way? Not the royal oak on waterloo road?

Similar story on saturday, in blackpool aswell! Where due to play a gig at Riffs, we'd been asked to headline, all fine and dandy, got a fair few people down. And the promotor didnt turn up untill 9, and we didnt have time for a set before the clubs curfew!

F'kin joke. The blackpool scene is pretty atrocious.

Prestons not so bad, The Venue and 53 are cracking.

We had a really good night Peter - except there were no monitors so that made it a bit challenging. Never mind mate, we're at DD's in a couple of weeks and back at Bootleggers soon.

Wasn't it Colin Crompton? Didn't he also say "They don't bury people in Morecambe, they prop 'em up in bus shelters with bingo cards in their hands"? :)
