Feeler: Aguilar GS412

Recommended Posts

Ok, this is really really stupid and vain.
I've long been massively in love with my Aguilar GS412's. They truly sound amazing and handle ANYTHING with ease. However, I'll hopefully soon be getting my V4 back from my tech and this will complete my otherwise all Ampeg rig consisting of my SVT, V4 and V4 4x12.

As I have two GS412's, the pathetic vain part of me (pretty sizable) is thinking about trading one for an Ampeg 810 (ideally an 810AV) so it's all pretty and Ampegy.
I'm not really planning on using two GS412's anymore anyway as one just get's used for high end and although it looks neat it's just ridiculous overkill.

You could have your pick of two, they have both been toured quite a lot so have a few cosmetic marks if you look closely and the rear handles have some paint loss but they both still sound incredible. All the carpeting is still intact so it's nothing you'll spot on stage. One has had the castors replaced at some point and the other used to belong to Paul Turner (bought it off eBay and ended up picking it up from J-Kay's place!). They both have Aguilar padded covers too which cost over £100 a pop.

These cabs are honestly way way better than the Ampeg 810's, truly and they're a lot easier to move around too. I must be mad although I will keep one in case I come to my senses.

I'm ideally after a US made 810av but will probably consider an 810e too. Will also consider a 610HLF but would want to try it out first really. Not bothered about cosmetic wear.
Will probably want a bit of cash my way too depending on what you have and condition. I'm based in Bristol.

Pics to come, all the pics I have were taken in my dark rehearsal room where they just look like featureless indistinct black boxes.

Bear in mind certain eras of Ampeg 8x10 have the very dark speakers, all the bottom of a sealed cab (as in not what you like) and rubbish top too. Should check out the years, JimmyM on talkbass put a breakdown of the subject in a thread, which I'm not even going to try and search for. Why not stick a silver grillcloth on one of the Aggies?
