My Revelation Fretless. Absolutely love the sound of this. Sounds incredible but it just doesn't suit my style of playing

My three fretless beauties.

Top: Fender Precision 70's ressiue with American Vintage Pickups and custom Shuker maple neck finished in high gloss. Sounds fantastic and is beautiful to play.

Middle: ESP 400 Series Jazz with Bartolini pickups and custom Shuker ebony neck. Made in Japan in the mid 80's at the Fender factory and is basically a Japanese 60's Reissue Fender Jazz.

Bottom: Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray with Pau Ferro neck.

Pretty satisfied with these two gems. Both heavily modded and they sound as incredible as they look. Love these two basses. I've owned quite a few way more expensive fretlesses but especially the Jazz beats them all.

I had a similar one. I wired it stereo.  It was a rocking machine! I downsized and sold it…but of course…I wish I still had it.

‘98 and ‘96 fender USA p bass w flats & j bass.

Anyone got any advice on replacing a nut. The j bass is eating away on the g string behind the nut.

The Bass Gallery in Camden could certainly sort you out with a new nut quickly and fairly cheaply - work is of the highest standard.  Two very nice basses - I particularly like the P - lovely aesthetic

Ironically they were happy to px me the bass with a warning about the nut- to not go below a certain gauge.. wasn’t until I got it home that I really noticed how much it was eating behind the nut. I mean it plays wonderfully so not like I want to change it up too much.. I wonder do I leave it as is and accept that the damage is done? image.thumb.jpg.466c083edf9e1545f437e352c41f4b91.jpg

It's actually not that uncommon to see some scuffing behind the nut on a fretless.............but that does look quite deep. I guess it really depends on how well it plays through the changing seasons. Could get tricky.

If it eats you, take the string tree off, and  put a thick washer under it to raise it slightly.

This is my latest fretless squeeze and by far the liveliest most mwah containing fretless I’ve owned. Fender Tony Franklin fretless Precision 2011.

I've had a few fretless basses over the years haven't really got on with any of them,  till I got this Yamaha TRB 5IIF. Gorgeous tones,  lovely neck  and so, so playable.

Get one!!
