queenofthedepths
This does look like junk and I don't like the look of the headstock (I'm also more interested in a 5-string unlined but that'd have to cost quite a bit more, unless anyone's seen one going cheaply anywhere...) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fretless-Electro-Aco...1QQcmdZViewItem Can anyone see any not-so-obvious reason I shouldn't throw away £74 on one of these? neepheid
Anyone who sells guitars based upon their overall length (despite being informed about scale length and why it's a more relevant measure) is not to be trusted.
queenofthedepths
Very true! I also noticed that they offered a free strap, spare strings and a gigbag, but none of these are pictured...
Bassassin
I had one of these a couple of years ago, exactly the same apart from the colour. Better quality than I had any right to expect, overall, played not bad at all, and I was actually pretty damned impressed by the output from the little preamp. I picked mine up ultra-cheap because it had a slight neck problem which meant notes below the 1st "fret" had quite bad buzzing, so it was sold as seconds. I would've kept it if it had been fretless & full-scale (these are medium) & definitely enjoyed mucking about with it. And it does come with all the gubbins they advertise - iirc, mine had a pitch-pipe & a stick-on scratchplate as well. Jon. Jean-Luc Pickguard
Personally I'd steer clear & stump up the extra to get a harley benton 5 string fretless acoustic from thomann. yorks5stringer
I had a Crafter 5 String Acoustic ( as per photo to the left) but had real problems with the intonation on the B....there's nothing you can do to adjust it. Tried thinnner and thicker strings, in the end got rid. That cost £300 but for £75 could be worth a punt? warwickhunt
Actually you can see the gigbag behind the neck of the bass in the box. TBF the guy is knocking them out cheap and may well be selling cheap toasters next week so I wouldn't expect knowledgeable replies. If the HB is a similar price (delivered) then it may well be the better bass but an electro-acoustic to plonk on in the house for £74... it isn't daylight robbery!
