YOB Bass, but does it exist?

OK, so I've long had GAS for a Year Of Birth bass, and it'd be a Precision, but it'd really need to be a maple board. From 1964.

Does such a puppy exist? Any Fender experts out there care to elucidate?

Ta,

Y'see, for a bloke with 25+ years in the IT industry, sometimes my grasp of the technology is just...cack. How did I miss that one?

The phrase 'very rare maple' might be an indicator, though.

At $12500, mind, it'll be staying in the States with Norman. In Tarzana, Ca. If ever there was a made-up placename, that's it.

now then, I saw YOB bass and thought....... I know of the Super YOB guitar that Dave Hill played in Slade.

Wow, I would buy a Super YOB bass, oh yes.

Imagine my dissapointment when I realised what you were all going on about :)

Anyway, I will have a 1965 bass, preferably British in manufacture?

As it just so happens, I have a beautiful example of a 1980 Stingray for sale right here...

I'd have a Super Yob bass in a heart beat....

1965 was a good year for Burns basses - plenty of models to choose from.

Being an old git just made it too expensive for me to even consider. So that's why I built my replica YOB over the winter months.

Not totally period correct but reasonably convincing and didn't strain the finances too much.

It's been seen before but here's a pic anyway

I don't think the YOB bass I would want exists - I miss out by 6 months on a late '59 Jazz as they were first introduced in March '60 :)

Although I don't know when the very first ones were actually built - I guess some may have been started in '59. . .
