Pliskin Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) After finally coming to terms with the fact I'm not really much of a guitarist anymore, it's perhaps time to say goodbye to my beloved Matamp 4x12 cab. I bought this about 4 years ago and whilst it's been gigged, due to bands splitting up and switching over to bass it really hasn't had much use at all. I'd say the cab is in very good condition cosmetically, only a couple of tiny nicks in the tolex that you'd have to look carefully to find. Speakers are 2 x Vintage 30 and 2 x Hot 100 wired to 8 Ohms, total power handling being 320watts and are barely run in. This combination was recommended by Jeff at Matamp for giving a great all-round sound be it for clean or gain sounds, with enough headroom to cope with just about any guitar amp. The cab is in Matamp house colours, I can't remember what they call them but will post pics when I get chance. This would be a very reluctant sale but I've not gigged with a six-string for about 3 years and owning a half stack just for practicing is somewhat overkill. I'd like £400 for this but I'd be very interested in a trade for a good 2x12 (vintage 30's preferably) with cash my way as I still need something to use with my Matamp head. Thanks for looking Stu Edited May 27, 2011 by Pliskin
Pliskin Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) Doh, knew I forgot something. Edited May 27, 2011 by Pliskin
Mr. Foxen Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Will you sell without speakers? The v30s are about 3db more sensitive than the Hot100s, and power handling is determined by the lowest powered speakers.
Pliskin Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 I didn't know that's how it worked out actually, guess it's 240 watts then. I don't think I want to get into breaking it up, it's a great sounding cab - the v30's and Hot 100's complement each other and provide greater options when recording.
Pliskin Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) That's why it's only a feeler I love it but I don't ever get to use it. Edited May 22, 2011 by Pliskin
Pliskin Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 I'll have a 2x12 by then hopefully! I think I've played through it twice this year, maybe half a dozen times last year... I'm torn. Luke should buy it and run a full stack ;p
Finbar Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Christ, he doesn't need 3 4x12s 2x12 kind of makes sense though. Wish Luke had one! Well anyway, not to derail too much, whoever gets it will be really happy with it at least

Stu
I think it's called "black" Stu. If you want to get posh, it's called Spanish plaster or something similar, wicker speaker cover and white 'batman' logo. Here's a pic:-
Pliskin Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Cheers guys! And yes, I meant the poncy names like 'spanish plaster'. But yeah, it's black pretty much. No longer a feeler, I really can't keep it.
Pliskin Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Bump for another photo
Pliskin Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 Out of interest, if I was to sell without speakers what would you consider a reasonable price? I may have a use for the vintage 30's in another cab.
Mr. Foxen Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I'd think around £200-250 for an emty cab would be right. But I would pay that at this point as I picked up really nice cab recently so am sorted.
