MacDaddy Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 love distortion but a decent chorus can be so versatile. Many moons ago I used to use the chorus on an old plastic Boss m/fx board, for an envelope filter type sound for playing Lenny Krevice songs. Quote
cheddatom Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011
...my new band's very Elbow/Mogwai/EITS kind of stuff so I use reverb effects A LOT! Truckstop
cool! Sounds like some of the stuff i'm doing, but I always tend to use delay as opposed to reverb. I don't even think I have a reverb pedal!! Maybe my zoom does reverb Quote
Truckstop Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I like delay, but I can't really use it in the band because the vocalist/keyboarder and the guitarist use delays a lot and I think a third one'd just be silly. It's hard to match tempo too and it'd just end up a mess! Truckstop Quote
cheddatom Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Some bands sync all their pedals to the same tempo, but i'm not sure how easy that is Quote

Truckstop Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Yeah, and I'm sure you could involve a midi controller in there somewhere. But basically, I don't see the point in having guitars, bass, keys/synths and vox all delayed! Truckstop Quote
thisnameistaken Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Yeah I was in a band for a while where the guitarist used a lot of delay and reverb and digital chicanery, and it pretty much ruled me out of doing that on bass, but left the door wide open for me to use fuzz and other noisy stuff. Quote
gub Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 cheers guys , i have cranked up the boss multi effect thingy and am having some fun with it . seems to have loads of options and am trying them all out . Quote

FUZZ/SYNTH > Delays and Ambience IMO. Quote

deej Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Gotta be dirt for me. I find it easy to use in songs without sounding like its there for the sake of using an effect. I like an aggressive tone so I never play clean. Quote

Pollinator95 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Light to medium overdrive for me. Also, I can´t gig without a volume pedal, if that counts. Quote
leonshelley01 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Bass Big Muff on the dry/blend setting. Gets a nice Muse type sound. Quote
Salt on your Bass? Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 hmmm, tough question. Got to be distortion to fuzz for me. That said, favourite pedal is my vt bass. Quote
