macca
Hi Folks, Thanks for taking the time to read my topic. I wanted to know if any of you bassheads out there could tell me if my fender was built in the u.s.a or Japan? I am aware this may seem a pretty dumb question, but I acquired the bass second hand and never really got to the bottom of its true identity. It certainly plays great and wondered if anyone could tell me a little bit about it? Many thanks, Liam.
neilb
whats the serial number? It may be on the rear of the neck at the heel. If it is there, its probably a Jap one. A 62 re issue possibly? Edited February 20, 2008 by neilb

Jean-Luc Pickguard
Impossible to tell much from those pics I can see it has reverse tuner though. It *looks like* a MIA '62 reissue, or maybe an early or later non-export Japanese one, but I wouldn't express too strong an opinion without seeing a pic of the serial no. and any markings that are exposed when the neck is taken off. Muppet
It *looks like* a MIA '62 reissue
Pinned shafts makes me think USA 62 reissue too. Japanese ones didn't come with the pickup covers I think and if that's the original case then it makes it much more likely.
