Which BCer's bass would you like and why?

PED suggested we should have this thread in the other "whose bass would you want" thread.

So I'll start the ball rolling.

As I said in the other oddly enough.......psychandy's GB Spitfire. I bought my new EBS rig from Bernie Goodfellow the day before psychoandy collected that bass from him. So Bernie played it through my rig, and it sounds absolutely amazing.....as good as it looks (and boy is it beautiful).

Hehe great! Hopefully some people will have the chance to steal said basses at the bash(es)!!! I will copy my answer from the other more general thread:

Well my choice would have to be either Kiwi's Smith 5 and matching fretless (nice to have a pair, dontcha' think?) or the best thumb bass I have played owned by Trev (G77). I might also have whatever bass Lukeward2000 is brutalising currently (I lose track) so I could beat him with it!

Hmm, I have to admit I don't GAS for any *specific* bass, but I'd probably say Dood's Shuker 7... by quite a substantial margin I might add! The maple fretboard, the elegant inlay, the single cut AND the awesome colour. I'm a huge fan of stylish solid finishes, no need for fancy top wood!

I was pretty impressed with bass_ferrets fretless GB but if you heard me play fretless you wouldn't let me near it :-)

Other than that SlapHappyGarrys red stingray was a beaut and although I haven't seen it I would guess Jebo's CAR 66 Jazz is pretty special!

Steve

EDIT: I forgot to mention Flankers F Bass - thats some bass that I keep trying to prise away from him :-)

There's too many to mention really!

But Merton's Status Groove 5, Nig's G&L L2500, WalMan's Wal Custom, Luke's Ibanez Fretless and one of Water of Tyne's vintage Fenders quickly spring to mind :)

We can but dream, I suppose.....

+1.

Or Dave's DJ4 with its previous tort' guard. Seeing as the pg has gone to Sean, Sean's DJ4 :) .
Or SpinalTap's Precision.
Or anything of 99sters or Beedsters.
Or Sparky's Martin.
I think the RIM basses sound amazing.
Or maybe Soulfinger's Mustang.
Ba55man's Hofner Violin.
Or perhaps Dan's Paisley, DarkStarred Precision.
The vintage white Sandberg Carl didn't sell.
CK's '78 MM Stingray.
Pete's pimped squier.
lex luthier's Frankencore.
Any of the boutique/custom basses that look as though they've been ripped out of a tree are bucking feautiful.
Oh, and I've completely fallen in love with dmz's fretless jazz/precision.

I'd rather have my p-special though, probably. The basses mentioned above are either obscenely expensive and/or sentimental to the owner.

If I had to choose, it would be Sparky's Martin because it's simple, natural, high quality and honest. And Pete's pimped squier, because it's humble yet versatile, and something that is worth watching the white finish to age.

All of that comes after Bassworm's Hungarian upright, of course  :

Hehe, was wondering if that'd come up! Only a month to go and you can play it. I'm scared sh*tless you'll hate it :)

I said it in the other thread - Alex's RIM custom 5 will do me ;)

Considering the quality of your basses I'll take that as a hoooge compliment.

Apart from Birdy's Jazz (and IMO you cannot have an opinion on vintage instruments until you have played a few) that is fabulous, its a +1 for OBBM's Duck Dunn Darkstar

Awww, that's not true mate. Your Ray is one of the nicest I've ever seen and if there was any way whatsoever I could afford it, I'd certainly have PM'd you.

Mert - am really looking forward to seeing your Groove 5 at the Bash, which I am 100% convinced I'm going to love :)

Nig has a L2500? I thought he was a 4 banger G&Ler.

I used to own a groove 5 and it was a fantastic bass!

My fave within basschat at the moment has to be Homer's HH Bongo ... I dont know if it would ever be a bass I'd keep for ever , but it sure looks beautiful!
(Truth be known I've been waiting for it to come up for sale and it never did )
