Do they sell them with ashtrays...case?
The JB75-94US range comes with ashtrays, binding etc. I think i've seen it in 3TS. THese are only about £317 or The JB75-100US range is as you described, minus the the tort guard and ashtray. You'd have to do it yourself. Obviously my Isihbashi navigation skills have more to be desired as I never found that yokohama site. I'm surprised the specs I described are in such short supply - I always thought that was the most stylised Jazz bass. I guess I'm wrong.
i dunno but i do have a japaneese bass that used to look exactly like that, but then some idiot lost the neck p/u cover and an even bigger idiot decided it would look better in DAYGLO green
What make is it? I've been considering going down the copy route for the vintage mojo and..well.. the hunt. I know Ibanez did one - although I don't like the finish. Pan did one (who's Pan?). Greco did one - I think, and is the one I'm most hankering for, although I haven't seen one in the finish I'm after. Also Aria Pro did one, which I quite fancy also. Wish me luck. As soon as the parcel is said to be 'sorting at depot' just go and get it yourself - in my experience they tend to send you a letter saying they want you to come and get it about 2/3 days after this.
Mee too! Ishibashi were there all the way too. Great service, can't recommend them enough.
mr_russ
does anyone have a review of the 70's reissue fender japan jazz basses? What do you think of the bass?
EdwardHimself
well it's very heavy, but i'm pretty sure it's agood thing in terms of tone, IMO, it sounds brilliant. It's got a really nice sweet tone with some lovely upper mids and highs, if i play too hard it does tend to click much louder then i'd like it to so i usually have to clamp my finger on the bridge pickup instead and i would like a bit of a higher output, but if your not a crazy bitch with a beard like me who likes to give the strings a good hard tug then it should be fine. In terms of playing, this bass doesn't exactly play itself! but it's not terribly difficult to play, infact i think i'm just not used to fender string spacing anyway really. I dunno you would have to see for yourself, good ones are probably about £100-£200. Ones that don't work are probably cheaper.
paul, the
Cheers Ed! Any piccies on BC? EdwardHimself
that's pretty much the only pic ur likely to find anywhere. i didn't use a flash in this pic- it really is that shiny. And if ur lucky u might find one with both p/u covers on it. Mine came with the bridge cover but i put some new strings on it and the ball ends were too big for it note how the finger rest is actually on the right side for fingerstyle playing. oh and who doesn't talk to themselves- really? My search has turned up some 20 odd Japanese brands that make the bass, Bassassin has been a big help.
EdwardHimself
haha i finally found a decent, published refrence to columbus. Aparently the Rob armstrong cornflakes box guitar used the hardware and pickups off a columbus les paul copy. They were also selling one of these down at the guitar shop i got that bass from aswell. (the LP copy, not the cornflakes guitar!)
john_the_bass
VAT question - if you're VAT registered does that mean that you don't have to pay VAT on imports (but still the import duty)?
BigRedX
If you're VAT registered you can claim the VAT back on any imports but not the Customs Duty (or the clearance fees?) However some carriers (FedEx definitely and definitely not Parcel Force) seem to have some sort agreement with UK customs where if they know that the delivery address is a VAT registered business there doesn't seem to be any fees at all to pay. I have all items that won't fit through my letter box at home delivered to my workplace, and I don't think I've ever had to pay VAT or duty on anything that has come via FedEx. I can remember the first time I bought something from the US (for work) that was being delivered by FedEx they contacted me for the business VAT number before they would deliver. Since then I can't recall ever having to pay VAT or duty on any item that's come via FedEx whether it's for my work or for me personally. I can't claim to know exactly how or why this has happened (or if my work is getting hit for customs and VAT bills at a later date and just pays them without realising that the items are for me rather than the business) but it's been good so far. YMMV as they say though...

Dood
I guess you'd need to ask. I don't remember seeing that when I was shopping there. Then again, I didn't look! I saw what UI wanted and emailed 'em straight away lol
cetera
Er...... a *bloke down the road* just received a wonderful bass from a friendly seller in Japan and *apparently* it got through with NO duty/VAT/Handling charges whatsoever!!! No idea how..... but *supposedly* it makes up for the few times he's had to pay it recently....
