He (assuming it's a bloke) thinks it's cool. Is this one of those jobs where it's not flame maple, but a photo of flame maple? There's a name for it, but I can't recall Edited June 2, 2011 by Roland Rock
Jean-Luc Pickguard
The last foto-flame I saw was a cherryburst jazz in a well known purveyor of quality basses quite a few years back. It was very nice, but the previous owner had had it converted to fretless and his right forearm had worn the finish & the flame right through to reveal a creditcard sized patch of very plain anaemic basswood underneath. Anyway....
there is gaffer tape where the straps attached. nothing wrong but as i did a lot of jumping around it kept it on and looked good. im sure if you have the patience to peel it off it can be removed and cleaned up, im looking to sell on and think it looks good anyway so cant be bothered to un peel it.
It looks awful you pikey. Take it off yourself if you want to sell it properly.... unless your too sacred that is?
in fact its 98% mint but the veneer is starting to crack on the front body top horm(photo provided) and again at the middle left of body.
Ooh, right where the gaffer tape is. No wonder your leaving it up to the buyer to remove. It's funny how a buggered body which will need a complete refin to rectify only constitutes 2% of its overall condition in your book. Ebay rawks. bigjohn
looks like a crack underneath that gaffa.
Happy Jack
??? He has now removed the gaffa and posted some extra photos ... it's not exactly a war-zone where the gaffa used to be, which simply begs the question why he chose to list it first with the gaffa apparently disguising some sort of monstrosity. Maybe he is just lazy. I did love the line: "I only sell my personal stuff on ebay and can vouch for the bass." What more could you want? munkonthehill
I quite like it. However may not go for it with the concerns you chaps have came up with.
TheGreek
Is nobody worried that in some of the pics the scratchplate is white and in others it's worn black??

Immo
Hi there, guys. I've decided to finally register Basschat.co.uk and the thing that convinced me was the fact, that... ...it was me who bought this bass you're talking about in this thread. I somehow couldn't resist to take that risk Well, the bass is a big enigma. Damn, she has mismatched parts, the veneer is damaged in many places, the strings don't go between the pickup poles, but she plays like a hardcore P-Bass for sure, despite the fact that, after all, she has custom, active pickup. It's Seymour-Duncan APB-2 'Lightnin' Rod' and it sounds just like it's named. The neck (single piece of maple with skunk stripe) is from 57' Re-Issue, while body seems to be a "FotoFlame", but it's marked as 62' Re-Issue. Everything's MiJ. The neck heel. The neck cavity. Can you guess something from those pictures? It looks like a factory custom to me, but I have no bloody idea what is it. For the record - I'm trying to get an info about the cost of restoring the veneer to its original state, as well as the lacquer on the neck. I'd also like to make a custom, possibly tele style scratchplate from alu (matte black) with separate 'latch' for the battery and the chrome pickup cover. I've already strung it with Fender Black Nylon Tapewound's (50-105). P.S. If it's not appropriate to evaluate the topic in "Ebay Links" after the item was sold, please forgive me
Ou7shined
So much for "UK only" At least you got a nice case for it. I have the same one for my Stingray. Welcome to the forum btw.

Suits the P-bass, I guess. I'll customise the case one day. And the bass - she's great player. Plays almost all by herself. Noticed the feminine? That's how I like her, so I need to restore it to pure awesomeness
