lanark
The man who produced THAT Strangler's bass sound on their first three albums, plus early Buzzcocks, Don't You Want Me, Fade to Grey, 999 and loads of other stuff.
benebass
Sad loss of a gifted man who worked on so many classics (didn't know he'd worked on T.Rex's Electric Warrior until today). RIP Martin... B.
hairyhaw
Ah, that sucks. Remember reading an interview with him in Sound on Sound and his reaction when one of the backing singers in the Human League got a bit of ego on. Priceless. molan
I always thought Dare was real innovation in terms of classy synth pop - so much so that I even sold my first bass, a lovely little white Fender Musicmaster & traded it for a Sequential Circuits Pro-One

Recording in a proper studio with a name producer. You'd have hoped they would have got it reasonably right. IMO their previous album "Travelogue" which The Human League did completely by themselves on an 8-track machine in superior in every way. Bit disappointed by the story though - basically what happened was one of the singers moaned about the drums taking too long so he flounced off in a cream puff. BigRedX
And so she should have. The drum sounds on Travelogue were far more interesting.

Can't please all the people all the time but the story tickled me anyway. Anyhoo, the drums generally ALWAYS take too long. Will need to take a gander at Travelogue. Not familiar with anything they did pre-Dare.

As it turned out the "Hawkwind for the 80's" was Hawkwind......
