I've taken a cheap bass, and turned it into a cheap old bass.

Gosh. How clever is that?

I've made it look pretend-rusty.

Well dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians.

Interesting that he has time for all these proprietary techniques for aging the hardware, but didn't bother to get the marker pen off the case, although, of course, he thinks it will come off easily.

If any of you are interested, I am developing my own techniques for aging basses, which includes soaking the parts overnight in a bowl of my own urine (patent applied for) and smearing the fretboard with a compound I've been harvesting from between my toes. I'll be marketing these basses as "Organically Reliced".

I actually know this chap and he's a lovely guy that just enjoys fiddling with guitars as a project. Love it or hate it (think I know which way it's going....) there's no need to call him a knob, is there?

But do the guitars enjoy it?

Put him on the 'bass offenders register' :)

I am sure he is a lovely guy, but I personally think that anyone who does this to a guitar is a knob. Its just my opinion you know. He might think I am a knob for not liking what he does to wonderful pieces of kit. He is welcome to think that.

WTF? At lest he's being honest about what he's done and its going for £60 for christs sake. Theres plenty of bullsh*tt*rs on here about their gear for sale IMO,. stop being so snobbish and cut the guy some slack

And, to be honest, it's not as bad as the G&Ls some guy chopped up a while ago. Most of the 'damage' looks like it'll wash off and at least he's bothered to relic the hardware! Plus, it's a wick colour!

Calling ebay sellers that we don't know knobs is the entire raison d'etre for this section of the forums, so yes, yes there is! :)

I wonder how long it would take to clean it up so it looks less like a dirt protest :)

edit -I am of course referring to the bass, not the hyperthetical video of Jack & the lesbians

For example, this "professional" job that GAK are offering for a mere £1500.

It's a respectable hobby for some folks (and some 'knobs, too, perhaps..!) to 'relic' scale models to give them some degree of 'authenticity'...

...some are better than others, and anyway, to each his own.
As far as basses (and guitars, drums, amps etc...) are concerned, I have enough patience to wait the 30 years or so required to get the 'real thing' (my drums, bought new in '74 or so, no longer look 'new'...).
