What Bass is This?

The legendary Mike Dirnt from Green Day back in the times when they were the greatest. But i have always wondered what this bass he used back then is, i guess a stingray of some kind but i may be wrong.
Also he got a gr8 tone around this time.

anyone played this bass, as it looks pretty cool, plus i love this tone mike gets, man i would love that tone.

Yeah, I think he was a G3 man back in the old days, I remember reading an interview with him complaining about the price of vintage ones, since he "made them famous again". His tone was always killer then though, he was one of the first bassist I really got into back when I was young
