deksawyer Posted June 10, 2011 Share Posted June 10, 2011 (edited) Almost exactly a year to the day I picked up my first (so far) ACG bass, and having just played it for the last hour or so while sipping some fine red wine (and watching Silverstone moto gp qualifying) I can't help think this is the best bass ever made. I can't thank Alan enough and I wish I could get one on every birthday. Here it is a year ago, still playing and sounding great. It's got extra long scale Elixir strings and they've been on it for about 9 months and still sound fresh..... If I did, I think a swamp ash body and almost the exact opposite of this bass, wood wise, would be the thing. Managed to do all this on the Android while drinking wine. ;-) Cheers D. Swamp Ash body, with "Dirty Ash" Finish, 3 piece Wenge neck and Bloodwood fingerboard. Single RFB Pickup, with Series/Parallel/Singlecoil switching and an ACG EQ02 with passive tone control. It's a 33" scale bass, with a low B, so it's an absolute dream to get around and the lightweight body makes you forget you've even got thing on, even with the Wenge neck! I think from the full bass pictures, you can really get a feel for how compact this bass is It can provide a huge range of tones from subtle to barking dog, thanks to the versatility of the ACG Preamp and the coil switching in the pickup. Chris2112 Posted November 20, 2011 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I still absolutely love my ACG. It is the one bass I would never, ever get rid of. I say this not as a fawning owner, but as a slightly jaded player of many, many high end basses that were not as good as the hype suggested, but I firmly believe Alan Cringean is the most exciting bass manufacturer on the planet at the moment. In a short space of time he has created such a following and basses of such a unique vision. I love the fact that I've got a relatively early model, as it feels exclusive but the quality of construction is exquisite. When I think of all the other basses I've owned in the time I've owned the ACG (Status, Kubicki, Iceni Zoot, Alembic, Zon etc etc) I can state that they are amazing basses but not as good as the ACG. That said, this is the only ACG I've played so maybe it's just a one off that is spectacularly good. But the devoted following these basses have would suggest otherwise. (Presuming he still has it) I blew some light bulbs up with it. If that isnt endorsement enough as to how fine ACG stuff is, then I dont know what is..
