Good and Bad Phrasing... What is it? How to Practice it! Lesson with Scott Devine

Hi Guys here's part one of a tutorial I've just filmed. I'm discussing what good and bad phrasing is within a soloing context, something that I believe really isn't discussed enough, as it really is an essential tool within any vocabulary.

Apologies about the lighting (the dark to light effect), waiting for Kodak to post out a replacement camera!

Here it is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB9CbmLBs7Q

as always, any questions fire away!

Easy,

Scott.

Haha! You nicked my gloves! What make are they? I use Jasmine Silk, quite durable and fit really well, but I'm looking for more durable ones.

That was a very good lesson, thank you.

Yeah, I used to use the silk gloves but they don't last me more than two gigs max... which is waaaaay to costly when they're coming in at just under £10 a pair. I now use really thin woolen gloves from my local camping shop. They last around 20 gigs a pair and cost £3.99! WIN!

easy man,

Scott

Hey guys,

Sorry for taking sooooooo long with part 2 of this tutorial... i've been on a gigging marathon!

Anyhow, I finally got part 2 of my phrasing tutorial done. As always, I ran out of time so i'm going to have to cover (soloing contour etc) more stuff in a 'part 3'. In the part 2 tutorial I discuss transferable themes within a soloing context and how to get them into your playing.

There's going to be a loads more video lessons coming soon! I'm pretty much booked solid for the next month but then things will ease off and i'll be able to get on the tutorials again, so watch this space!

Here's part 2...

Cheers guys,

Scott.
