Warwicks would probably be next (the rockbass range). Quote
Grand Wazoo Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 For a little over £500 (£532) you can get a lot of bass for your money with a Yamaha BB615, P/J pickups active3 band eq as in this link: http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...0&type=Bass Guitar Quote

I think the BTB 5s are a smidgin over £600 new though aren't they? Any particular reason why it has to be new? Is it a gift for someone? Edited June 11, 2011 by Conan Quote
ThomBassmonkey Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011
I think the BTB 5s are a smidgin over £600 new though aren't they?
Like the SRs they're a whole range, I've not really looked at prices for a while but from memory the prestige ones run into the thousands, a quick google shows the BTB405 is available under £500 new though. They also have wider string spacing than the SRs IIRC. I used a BTB406 for about 8 years and it never let me down once apart from one string break, which is a pretty good success rate over hundreds of gigs. Quote
BASainty Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 /Agree Yamaha BB415 or BB615 or Yamaha RBX375 Quote

BASainty Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Exactly i love my 374 it can do anything i need it to do and more its by no means inferior atall Quote
deepbass5 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Sounds Like a contradiction in terms But my only surprises have been OLP RAY, and a DEAN. And Like the ATK's Quote
Ed_S Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 If you don't mind it being quite physically heavy, try http://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/products/es...yor-415-nat.asp or any of the other 2010 LTD Surveyors that they're clearing cheap at present. As a local and a customer I can vouch for them being a decent shop. On a personal note, I have to say I'm surprised by the love for Ibanez BTBs - I bought a matching pair a few years ago (a 5 and a 6) and found them to be fairly rough-and-ready for the money. All the hardware started to tarnish quite badly after a couple of months, and the stock pickups/EQ were quite lacklustre. Have they improved the range substantially since I got rid? Quote

And no, it isn't mine. Plenty of other S/H warwicks are going for £500 and less, and the proper german made ones too, if you can get a $$ I'd recommend that too. Quote
markstuk Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 A friend of mine has a Peavey thru neck jobbie that he thinks was pretty dman good for the money (about £400 I think) - and he's got a pretty impressive bass collection to ground this assessment.. I love my BTB676 though the neck isn't perfect (a few sanding issues over looked same on the back of the body, though its minute) and its sounds awesome to my ears! Ibanez SR may be worth a look, or the Yamahas! (Love both companies!) do you have any preference to what type of stuff you like? Quote
simon1964 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 If you like the Stingray tone and vibe, I'd say the Ibanez ATK 305. Still regret selling mine! Quote
dc2009 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 If you're certain you want new then get the epiphone tb pro-v. It'll only be about 380, it's got a thru-neck, a 7 piece maple and walnut neck, mahogany wings, upgraded bridge, pups and active eq, and if you get a new one it'll have the correct strap button position and won't neck dive one bit. I would probably still recommend a second hand german Warwick over this though. So, does it [i]have[\i] to be new? And what do you want it for? Your new main bass, a recording bass, a backup bass, a look awesome on stage bass, or just a good allrounder? Quote
