bassninja Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Apologies if its been posted before, but I stumbled across it while 'working'. I gather Michael Manring finds it amusing, so it must be... beerdragon Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Youtube have had complaints about the shreding parody.and some have been withdrawn. mainly from Eddy van Halen i think. i would be surprised if there were complaints about this. Quote
Perry Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 No offence to you my friend but that was really boring. Quote

WalMan Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Saw it when someone showed me the Vai parody & it made me chuckle. Now the question is, is the person who overdubbed the clip actually really good & just in Les Dawson mode or not? Quote
EdwardHimself Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 compared to some of them that one was really boring. It was basically just without the looping and a bit out of tune. And the amp was f***ed. Quote
Golchen Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hmmmn, I can't view the video right now but I'm pretty sure that I know what it will be. For me the jury is still out on this stuff, they can be funny but ultimately it's a laugh purely at someone else's expense, which I guess is a fairly low brand of comedy. Having seen a few now I don't feel the need to keep revisiting the same old joke. Having said that, I saw a brilliant Santana one once, every little nuance of the different musicians movements were timed into the thing and it was VERY funny. Some idiots who left comments seemed to think that it was real! Quote
jay249 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I feel that people are reading way too far into this, it's just a joke it's not going to end or harm his career- and he's said to find it funny himself anyway, it's worrying that someone has the time to make something like this, but it's only a joke, jeez. Soulfinger Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I think it´s very well made, sound, timing, attention to detail, plus the faulty amp thing is hilarious. As someone said in the comments, you actually have to be a rather good player to pull this off. Quote
wateroftyne Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I've just laughed so hard I think a little bit of wee came out... Quote
Hamster Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Makes me want to buy a fretless again Hamster Quote

wateroftyne Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 What's the can of worms about? It's a parody. I don't think anyone is knocking his talent (I'm not a fan but, hey...). Quote
thedontcarebear Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Bit boring, and not original, so the first time you see a video like that, it's quite good, but the 50 after aren't. Quote
Dood Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Apparently Malmsteen really threw his toys out the pram and had all his 'parodies' removed. I think they were the best... "I am your new god, I am the greatest" heee heee... anyone else see them? My other favourites include John Petrucci's guitar lessons and talking about his amazing rig, that no one in the universe can afford... lol Quote

blamelouis Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 That manring video had me pissing myself and the way he kept going to the amp with the dodgy lead and the out of tune fretless !!!! Best i've seen ! Quote
Steve Lawson Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Love the Michael Manring one - brilliantly done (and indeed, Michael did find it hilarious) The Petrucci ones had me close to tears. Just great. Steve Quote
Sibob Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Very good, loved it! Obviously it helps if you're aware of the original The Malmsteen one is (was?) classic youtube! Si Quote
