POLL! Who uses a hard case for gigs, and who uses a gig bag?

In fairness, looking at the state of that MM I'd guess that not even a hard case would have saved it...

Hardcase, but only because 20 years ago we where throwing them in the van with everything else, now I could easily go gigbag with my sensible middle aged attitude and well arranged car, but I haven't made the switch yet

Depends on the gig and bass really. If I don't have to worry about passengers in the car, one bass goes in a hard case in the boot with the rig (hiscox), then the gig bag goes in the front passenger seat. Last show I did my rig stayed there for the week, so used gig bag and hard case. I'll probably get another Hiscox at some point though.

Depends on the gig but gigbag most of the times.

If I'm in the van, hard cases. If I'm in my car, gig bags but good ones.

I prefer gig bags as I leave the backup in the case and stand it behind my rig.

I use an [url="http://www.dv247.com/cases/skb-1-skb-sc44-rectangular-bass-soft-case--42261"]SKB hardbag thing[/url] and it utterly rocks. The portability of a gig bag with a good dose of the protection of a hard case.

Are the rectangular hard cases any better or worse than the shaped ones?

Gig bag for me, as i can't afford a decent hardcase, it wont fit in the car (Me, drummer, 4 piece drum kit and drummers dad), and i'd struggle to carry a hardcase and my amp. I do have a hardcase that i bought with my first bass, only cost me £30 but its quite solid, and also too big and heavy for me to use on a regular basis.

Currently use a gig bag but I would much prefer a hard case or one of them polyfoam jobbies for my Ampeg AEB.

The problem is that the bass is 1240mm long and the body is 385mm across the lower bout AND 95mm deep at that beautiful scroll headstock with backwards facing tuners.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a case to fit this beggar without having to go to the expense of having a custom flight case made for it, please?

Gig bag mainly unless I had transport then hard case.

Hard case - not up to Hiscox standard but good enough to withstand anything that might fall on the case doing so. As I see no point in the extra faff of putting the bass into a different case/bag for going to rehearsal when there's nothing in the car that will fall on it, it stays in the hard case.

Incidentally, from my observations at rehearsal studio, a significant portion of the bass playing community is being disenfranchised in this poll as the option "None/black bin bag" has been omitted.
