Lozz196 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Says it all really - how often are drummers or guitarists described as "mysterious"? We bassists really are the "mysterious" ones in the instrument playing world. And I feel so much the better for it Quote
icastle Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Unfortunately, 'mysterious' can also be described as 'odd'... Quote
3V17C Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 i once got described as 'enigmatic'.. which i kinda like! Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I got called a 'f*cking oddjob' by a man with a forked beard and multiple facial piercings. I was having my pre-gig cup of tea and that pub happened to serve it in a cup and saucer. Quote
ahpook Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 hey - mystery is my middle name ! (actually, it's gordon...you can see why i fib) Quote
Marky L Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Well, William Mysterious used to play bass with The Rezillos, so maybe he set the trend? Quite a swift player too, another influence in me taking up bass. Quote
Dood Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Captain Sensible once described me as 'flamboyant'! Quote

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Did they say that the darkness were unoriginal, cliched and lucky to be still around? no? Just me then Quote

Buzz Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Now that Frankie Poullain and his bandana wearing handlebar moustache is back in The Darkness, they might actually make a good album again (he left/got kicked before the second album, which tanked). Quote

Chris2112 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Christ, are they still going? I remember 'Growing on Me', that was nearly a decade ago! Quote
KevB Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Reformed apparently after neither Hawkins brothers subsequent projects (Stone Gods, Hot Leg) really took off. Probably just short of cash. Quote

dc2009 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) My guitarist/singer bumped into their drummer in a pub in Camden not too long ago, had a good chinwag with him. Apparently they weren't still around, I think they sort of stopped bothering after the second album (I think it was), they all have since been squandering the money they earned, particularly justin hawkins, on sw***y hotel rooms and a very fancy car, which the drummer showed my bandmate on his phone. He said they were getting back together nowish in order to release a new album and make some more money in order to maintain their frivolous lifestyles! EDIT: s w a n k y - really?
