fortyfiver Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hi all I'm about to put my much cherished fretless Vigier Passion up for sale. It's quite an early example as the serial number is 006 but any idea what year would it have been crafted? It's got active circuitry, Delta Metal fretboard and, I suspect, a maple neck. Any extra info would be really useful as I bought this beautiful instrument secondhand in 1988. It's still in almost mint condition too. I'll post some decent photos as soon as I can. Cheers Quote
Shockwave Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Is that not a Vigier Arpege and not a passion? The pickup config makes me suspect arpege. Quote
fortyfiver Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 Pretty sure it's a Passion. I think early pickup configs were subject to change! It came with user manual for the Passion too. Quote
ped Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 It's an early Passion bass, I have seen a fretted version with the same pickup config. As far as I know, serial numbers aren't logged on these very early models, but if you speak directly to Patrice Vigier, he will be able to help you some more. I think this bass would be built around 1984. The fretted version may or may not have had a brass leminate between the neck and fingerboard, but being Delta Metal, yours probably wont. Nice looking bass - let us know what Patrice says! Cheers ped Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Very nice. That's two of these that have passed this way second-hand recently... Don't tell me they're "unfashionable"! Quote
fortyfiver Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 I think this little beauty transcends any sort of fashion tbh I've owned this one for 20 odd years but just haven't had chance to play much lately and it's a bass that loves to be played! Quote
lapolpora Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I'm quite interested in getting a Vigier and sorry if this question is not relevant to the thread: Apart from pickup configuration, what are the differences between the Passion and Arpege? Any resources where I can find out more about Vigier basses and their evolution from the past two and a half decades? Thanks. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I was going to say; Ped, one of the Bass Docs (never can remember user names!)- Nick, not Howard!, or or (humbly) me.. Do be aware that they've "evolved" a lot between Series1 (like this one) and Series4 (current), with numerous changes in between. They have, however, retained many of the same central design and construction concepts. Oh, and the fit, finish and QC are beyond reproach. I've never seen, heard of or played a duffer yet. I have an S3 Passion 5, and it is utterly superb. Quote
