P/J Pickguard

I`m thinking of sticking a Pbass pickup in a jazz project I`ve got going on, but I`m unsure about the pickguard.
Are P/J guards available or do you need to mod a jazz one?
Would it be a good idea to use the p/guard screwed to the bass as a template for any routing out I need to do?

I'm pretty sure Dave_bass5 had a jazz type p/g made up with a P cutout, maybe drop him a pm.

Or order one to fit a Reggie Hamilton Jazz bass (it will most likely need to be from the US, although WD might have some)

I have - for a precision with a chrome control plate the same shape as the bit I lopped off, but there's no way it would fit on a jazz. There are plenty of custom pg makers who will do what you need
