Ok, so I've been on the hunt for a secondary bass, researching round all over the t'internet and locally...I've listed these mainly & aiming under £300 as much as possible tbh..

A 1978 Musicmaster Bass (£130) cream with black scratchplate, local, needs a complete setup, clean and a replacement E tuner (may put a hipshot D tuner)

A Vester 5 String clipper (thanks who told me the make ) in natural, streamer shape (£250)

Yamaha BBG5 (£280 ono)

or a cheapy MIM jazz

Which to choose? :) or any preferable basses under £300 mark, active mostly but the musicmaster has that lovely thin neck & I may (possibly) rout it for active (if I cba tbh) the MIM jazz was a "meh, Ill settle for anything". I'm kinda skint now since purchasing my lovely Streamer Stage 1 & a Vauxhall corsa  so more hours at work ;)

Thanks!

aren't the Musicmaster machineheads non-standard?
I'm pretty sure you can't get a Hipshot detuner in the exact style of the ones on the bass in the bass porn forum.

Pedro....I've not got one, but I've heard very, very good things about them as being fantastic value for the money. Get one shipped to the UK for £120. Then mod it to your own specs. Put new pups in, change the bridge, tuners, pickguard. Stick an East J-Retro in (or the like, depending on model).

I'll be after jazz and either a P or PJ when I'm a bit flush again.

Have a chat with OldGit and he'll give you some advice.

Depends on the age. Later ones used normal fender branded 1/2" post tuners.

Thanks for all the suggestions BC'ers, but I think I'm gonna go with the Musicmaster. Need a passive sound, plus it'll be a good renovation project.

Pete, I'll have to try out a SX bass, watched some on youtube..they have a good sound :)

Cheers!

will it need to be adjusted?
Looks to me like the action's too high and the pup will need dropping a bit , hard to tell from a photo though.
