cycrowave Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 my vote goes to michael shuman's gibson ripper, also great to see mani from primal scream rocking it on an epi. the guy from the eels had the best looking p-bass imo Quote
pickle Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Im gonna say the chrome bass the guy from Pendulum was using Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Well I wouldn't be me if I didn't say that Musicman ClassicRay with the white pickup and pick guard that Janelle monae's bass player was using, Yum! Quote
clauster Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Morrisey's bassist had the coolest. Was it a Hayman? Quote
toneknob Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Bakithi Kumalo's Zon. "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes" was untouchable Quote
Beedster Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Might be a daft question and probably covered elsewhere, but why did Plan B's bassist have the logo of his bass taped over, was he otherwise in breach of an endorsement deal or something? Quote

Maybe he doesn't believe in advertising a brand that isn't doing him a deal for it? Were any other instrument logos covered up? Quote

Didn't notice any others? Quote

BigRedX Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 You know in this age of corporate sponsorship for just about everything there's a case for covering up logos from manufacturers who aren't doing you some sort of deal. I know if I was in a band big enough to be playing gigs like Glastonbury I'd probably have every logo from manufacturers that weren't supporting me in some way covered. Quote
Jarhead Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Yeah, he was playing a Fender I think, but he normally plays (and might be endorsed by) Warwick. Quote

Why does sponsorship need to come into the equation , or am I missing something ? Quote

Sponsorship ties you into a certain brand and all that goes with it (cheesy endorsement ads in bass mags) Its not like most of these guys cannot afford to use whatever gear they want.. Quote

I saw the white pickups and thought, I wonder if thats a classic. Sounded so good, it has made me put my fretted neck back on mine and take it to rehearsal tomorrow. Quote
Cygnus x-1 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 It was a black Jazz with no pickguard, you could just see the rout between the bridge pickup and control plate, I wondered about the tape over the make, maybe it was a Squier???? Quote
chris_b Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Bakithi Kumalo's Elrick Gold fretless 4 and Gold 5 sounded rich, full and just great. Quote
waynepunkdude Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Aloe Blacc's bass player's, it was just a sunburst jazz but my god was it cool. Quote

Seems pretty pointless as protests go! Quote
