Question About Necks - 1) Are these any good?

Good afternoon -

A couple of questions for you experienced guitar builders :-

1) I wondered if anyone here has tried these necks?

These are the "DR" PN1020-M - the price is good at £56 - but only if the necks are any good, of course!

The second question is -

2) How to get a thick, high gloss lacquer finish like the Fender P necks have?

Is it a question of lots of thin coats?

Is there a thread on the site about it? I did see reference to one of you guys on these build diaries saying that they might do an article on getting a thick epoxy finish, but that's something else - presumably for a fretless fingerboard.
