Funny but I think he "overplays" (otherwise he wouldn't have been noticed so often)
aaaah! so that's the secret to getting noticed. From now on I shall be overplaying like there's no tomorrow. Expect to see me topping the bass players poll next year. :)
but he does it so well that it doesn't bother anyone..
It bothers me...the fact that he is one of the most sought after musicians around, seriously contributing to and enhancing most tracks he plays on. :)

Overplaying anyone? I don't think so! LOVE the gaps on this track, the lack of notes on that whole album is awesome

Same song that has been posted but a video I have not seen before. Some nice shots of Pino and his Ashdown/Epifani rig. The man is a legend and I want a bass just like his.

I was going to suggest the Manu Katche stuff, but someone beat me to it. Both albums are seriously good, and Pino's playing is sublime. Highly recommended both is terms of bass prowess, but also musical craftsmanship of the highest calibre.

Errrrrr - anyone spotted this??? Pino is playing his first gig as bandleader at Ronnie Scott's on 5th October - with hip hop drum monster Chris Dave on the gig - should be immense...

My favourite bass player, by quite a sizable amount. He ticks every box, versatile, massive skills, able to play what's right for the song, and incredibly humble. Overwhelmingly everyone who plays with him always say he's the best money can get, and his CV sort of reflects it... he's like the Abe Laboriel Jr. or the bass world right now, he's on everything.

Our drummer knows Pino quite well and has played with him a few times. He told me that recently Pino couldn't make a rehearsal due to a gig commitment (I can't remember what bands were involved sorry!) and they got MARCUS MILLER to cover for him IN A REHEARSAL! :) :)
